• Parents should have a positive attitude towards school, education and learning.
• Help your child with school work.
• Familiarize the child with the books given from the school.
• Encourage your child participate in home activities in different ways. Examples –Encourage him/her to dress and undress himself/herself.
• Develop good and healthy eating habits.
• Help him/her to socialize with others. Take him/her on outings to the park, zoo, circus, exhibition, book fairs, to your relatives house ,friend’s place etc.;
• Encourage him/her to play with other children, share toys sweets and books. Personal health and hygiene
• Encourage the child to take care of himself/herself, to keep himself/herself clean and his surroundings clean.( example: brush the teeth, comb the hair, washing hands before and after eating, rinsing mouth after eating etc.,)
• Encourage the child to wish others-Good morning, Good evening etc., to say thank you, to say sorry etc.
• Encourage your child to read books. Help him/her constantly with this task.
• Make your child aware of his/her surroundings, environment, nature, personal safety etc.
• Encourage your child to explore and study, let him use his five senses- touch, feel, smell, see, hear and learn.
• While in the kitchen child could be encouraged to sort out fruits, vegetables with names, colours, different types of dals, seeds etc.
• Tell him a simple story with moral values daily.
• Encourage your child to draw and colour, buy him crayons and Color pencils.
• Select good educational programs on television for your Child’s viewing.
• Select and buy good interactive CDs for children who use computers. Be watchful over internet usage.
• Buy good educational toys appropriate to your child’s age.(Examples-Construction toys, building blocks, puzzles, Household items, tools-toys, model vehicles, magnetic or Flannel boards-for placing letters, numbers, pictures, Musical instruments like Casio, Guitar etc.,)
